Old habits do die hard

I know one person who proved me once again that habits are hard to get rid of. His case is pretty interesting but not that uncommon. Some facts:  

  • Today is May 3rd 2008.
  • Prices for Internet are lower than ever.
  • This person X is still using dial-up.
  • His dial-up connectivity costs more than cheapest cable connection.

 

Fabo, ykwim?

I have always hated excess of abbreviations. I realise that there are some that have stuck to every day language that people don't even know it's not a correct word. But some people are trying to save time by inventing their own words or overusing uncommon abbreviations. In the end, they waste the time of theirs and the person they're speaking to.

Here is a perfect example of my friend using the word I had never heard before:

I've been wondering for weeks now why our cat smells so good, almost as he's just taken a shower. Finally figured out he hangs out a lot in laundry room next to dryer sheets and other things :) that's where that good smell comes from.
