Navizon on iPhone

Ever since I decided to keep my iPhone I discovered a great feature of iPhone back-up. I never knew it worked so well, that's why I was always afraid to use so-called "Installer". Now that I knew I could always bring my phone back to factory settings without loosing contacts, calendar, and other data, I simply went crazy with Installer and discovered plenty of very useful apps — NemuSync, Flashlight, PocketTouch, and many more.

Of course not all these programs are ideal as they're not official. I found out a first bug with app called Navizon.

The idea of Navizon is to keep trail of your phone — and yourself — on the planet. Wherever you move it stores its information online. It's not just for fun. The purpose too is to let your friends see where you are so you can get connected. Idea is not bad. But I had to uninstall this app after temporarily bricking my phone .

The bug with Navizon is happening when you set the program to periodically update your location as a background process. That all is running pretty well until you turn your phone to airport mode. Thus when your phone is in airport mode, and the time comes to update your global positioning, your phone gets bricked .

What's happening to your iPhone during this time?

  • Screen turns on and never turns off. This is actually a good thing, read below.
  • Screen randomly blinks and is frozen.
  • You cannot press any buttons.
  • You cannot turn your phone off.

Since you cannot turn your device off, that is good that your screen always stays on, because it's a matter of few hours before battery gets drained, and your device is shut down. At this time your connect it to power outlet, turn it on, disable airport mode before Navizon tries to update its positioning.

Oh well, I chose to uninstall Navizon at this time. Because if I were to use it, I'd love to have it running in a background at all times. But at the same time I do use airport mode.
