Things rusting and falling apart

"

Today, I had an oil change done, and finally remembered to mention to a Subaru dealer that my rear trunk lid is rusting away. On a almost brand new car no less. They were surprised but said that some sort of special "rep" should come check it out for them to decide whether to junk that trunk lid or respray it.

Another thing that I remembered to tell them to check was metallic noise from the rear suspension. They found that my COBB sway bar is detached on the left side... Nothing critical, I guess I have a "one-sided" sway now, but safe to travel to NH to take care of it. By the way, the sway is rusted to hell as well!

p.s. once again in case this isn't clear yet — this is an '08 car.

More than a boot lid

More than a boot lid replacement you should be looking at a car replacement! That is sub standard manufacture.

It should not have rusted away at all. We live in a coastal city yet none of my or my friends cars have any rust on them. In old Indian cars it was normal to have rust in the first year itself. But that was because those companies never pre treated the vehicle bodies.

Your car should not have had any rust on it unless you work at an acid plant.

Yeah, :) I don't work on or

Yeah, :) I don't work on or near acid plant :) But trust me that isn't the first time I see rust on an almost brand new car in USA. I think the cheapest and worst quality gets shipped here.

As far as pre-preated vehicle bodies, I have not heard such things here. I know it's widely popular in Ukraine when I lived there.
