Old habits do die hard

"

I know one person who proved me once again that habits are hard to get rid of. His case is pretty interesting but not that uncommon. Some facts:

  • Today is May 3rd 2008.
  • Prices for Internet are lower than ever.
  • This person X is still using dial-up.
  • His dial-up connectivity costs more than cheapest cable connection.

He gives the reason why he maintains his dial-up: AOL chatrooms. About more than one year ago, I've explained to him that it's possible to access those chatrooms from anywhere on the planet where there's Internet connectivity regardless of ISP. Today I still see him using dial-up. I guess there are two Internets nowadays, people who adopt new technology and those who remain in a limbo of Internet of previous century, still browsing geocities and tripod, searching on lycos and watching streaming bad quality Real Player movies. I have given up on trying to brainwash him to enter a better world.
